Overview

Location: Divisional Headquarters, Programs Department

Status: Non-exempt, Part-time, Seasonal (October - December 2025)

Hours Per Week: Varies

Scope of Position: Responsible for coordinating, organizing, and administering the Salvation Army Southern New England Division’s Angel Tree and Adopt-A-Family programs during the 2025 Christmas season. This individual will manage intake, scheduling, and communication with participating families, donors, and volunteers.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to policies and procedures of The Salvation Army and any other entity governing the distribution of materials and services.
  • Answer phone calls, emails, and in-person inquiries related to the program promptly and courteously.
  • Assist donors with Angel Tree adoptions and ensure donor recognition procedures are followed.
  • Assist with the preparation of program reports and summaries after the season concludes.
  • Communicate program updates and instructions to corps officers, staff, and volunteers.
  • Coordinate volunteer schedules for Angel Tree gift sorting, bagging, and distribution.
  • Coordinate with corps to ensure smooth distribution and collection of Angel Tree tags and gifts.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of participating families, donors, and gifts.
  • Manage scheduling for family intake appointments and gift pick-ups.
  • Organize gift intake, sorting, storage, and distribution in coordination with divisional staff and corps/community centers.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Angel Tree and Adopt-a-Family programs.
  • Perform data entry, generate reports, and ensure confidentiality of all client and donor information.
  • Prepare and maintain program files, forms, and databases (digital and paper).
  • Provide orientation and guidance to volunteers assisting with program tasks.
  • Serve as a positive and professional representative of The Salvation Army. Demonstrate respect and professionalism with clients, staff, community representatives, and volunteers.
  • Track gift delivery status and follow up with donors or families as needed.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to organize responsibilities, multitask, and function independently.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is strongly preferred; spoken and written English proficiency is
  • Demonstrate ability to engage with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrate discretion, integrity, and confidentiality in dealing with all matters.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as program demands increase near Christmas.
  • Minimum of one to two years of clerical, administrative, or customer service experience.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, lift, and carry up to 25 pounds as needed for gift sorting and distribution.
  • Must be available from October through December 15, 2025.
  • Must complete KeepSAfe and other required training upon hire.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
