The Salvation Army, Syracuse Area Services

Behaviorial Health Unit

Mental Health Specialist-Commnity Based will provide individualized mental health support services to children and youth (ages 0–21) with emotional or behavioral challenges. Services are delivered in the community — such as in the home, school, or other natural settings — to help youth and families build skills, manage symptoms, and function successfully in their daily lives. This role focuses on practical, strengths-based interventions that support the youth's ability to remain in their home and community, while avoiding unnecessary hospitalizations or higher levels of care.

There is currently 1 open position that reports directly to the Clinical Supervisor.

Responsibilities

This position will begin as part-time (29 hours a week), with the potential to transition to full-time (35 hours a week) based on agency needs, successful completion of the preliminary employment period, and consistent productivity. Scheduling is flexible based on provider and family availability. This is the perfect role for passionate professionals who want to build clinical skills, gain real-world experience in community mental health, and work with youth and families — all while progressing toward licensure with the backing of a large, respected organization.

Compensation starts at $24/hour with the option of a monthly productivity incentive.
