Overview

Position:   After School Care Worker                          

Location: York, PA

Availability of Position:  Immediately                            

Supervises: Volunteers, Students

Schedule: Part Time - Monday to Friday, 3 P.M to 8:00 P.M.; up to 25 hours per week

Reporting Relationship: After School Care Director; Day Camp Director; Assistant After School Care Director                  

Salary and Grade: $13.00 per hour; 71 Non-Exempt

Responsibilities

Position Overview: This position involves direct assistance with learning programs and homework for York City students.

 

Description of Position:

  • Plan, prepare, and implement the daily Program is to vary from day to day. Work with SA programs such as Adventure Corps for boys, Girl Guards for older girls, and Sunbeams for younger girls.
  • Making sure children are walked to the Learning Center if child(ren) are required to
  • Always supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of
  • Keep assigned program participants in sight and within ear-shot at all ALWAYS adhere to policies about children and their breaks, bathroom, moving from room to room, etc.
  • Manage students' behavior issues according to program policy and with a positive, encouraging, compassionate attitude.
  • Always maintain open lines of communication between Supervisory staff and program
  • Be alert to the needs and problems of the children as individuals and as a
  • Maintain and keep all rooms used by the After School Care program clean and
  • Clean all rooms and gym used by the After School Care Program at end of the day. Vacuum, empty trash on a daily basis.
  • Assisting with daily tasks such as snack preparation, clean-up, and maintaining a clean and organized
  • Helping with Keeping ServSafe up to date. Encouraging children by example to clean up their area after they are fed.
  • Participating in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge on a yearly basis as per DHS policy.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year working with students in a learning
  • Strong interest in educational development of children

  • Basic Technology Skills
  • As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.
  • Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.
  • Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of the Salvation
