SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Program Coordinator has the overall responsibility for developing, implementing and organizing high quality youth sports programs and other activities for youth ages 8 – 18. Significant organizational and interpersonal skills are required to work collaboratively with the youth, parents, ministry team, staff and community stakeholders. The Program Coordinator ensures that a well-balanced program is maintained, including opportunities for worship, community building, social action, education (life skills, character building), and leadership development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create a safe and supportive drop-in center space for City of Rome youth
• Responsible for the daily operations, supervision, and interaction with children and staff, including the facilitation of drop-in center programming, and overall cleanliness of the space
• Ensure youth are appropriately supervised by approved staff and volunteers
• Partner with other Corps and Community agencies to develop relevant and engaging programming
• Provide referrals and connections to other Corps and community programs as needed
• Participate in the ongoing development of drop-in center policies and procedures
• Participate in program outreach and program development
• Track measurable outcomes according to goals, use measurement tools, and report per policy
• Maintain up-to-date and accurate statistical reports, timesheets, mileage records, and other data as required
• Actively participate in training sessions as provided
• Attend community partnership meetings as appropriate
• Participate in all other duties and activities as requested or assigned
SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
• High School Diploma/GED; one year of experience working with children; one year of technical school preferred.
• Effective interpersonal, communication, research, multi-tasking, and team-coordinating skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially spreadsheets, databases, and reporting tools
• Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow.
• Strong mentoring and coaching skills.
• Ability to train and coordinate volunteers
• Ability to foster a sense of value among volunteers, staff, and program participants
• De-escalation and mediation skills are required
• Must possess demonstrated and effective supervisory skills
• Valid NYS Driver's License that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements
