Position: Custodian

Department: Dover Corps

Availability of Position: Immediate

Schedule: Part Time Plus – Monday thru Friday  Monday – Friday 4 hrs. per day

Reporting Relationship: Corps Commanding Officer

Salary/Grade:73 non-exempt - $15

Responsibilities

Function: The primary function of the Custodian is to provide janitorial services to the facility, both indoors and outdoors, as required for the efficient and effective operation of The Salvation Army programs, including helping set up and take down the weekly food distribution.

 

Duties Include:

  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness throughout the facility as assigned by Corps Officers.  This will include all mirrors, doors, windows, floors, ceilings, walls, vacuuming, dusting, tables, chairs, and restrooms. In addition, there will be annual items for cleaning (grease traps, kitchen fans, etc.)
  • Assist with the ordering and resupplying of necessary products throughout the facility.
  • Empty trash and clean receptacles as needed. Remove all trash to the dumpster daily.
  • Help to maintain outdoor areas as directed, to include shoveling of snow, trimming of grass, weeding, and litter removal.
  • Maintain clean and orderly supply closets.
  • Replace light bulbs as directed.
  • Notify the supervisor when supplies need to be reordered.
  • Respond to staff and leadership to assist with carting supplies, unloading of vehicles, and all seasonal needs.  This may include unloading trucks, donation of toys and canned food, and assisting with set up for distributions, assisting with the seasonal Christmas Kettle Campaign as needed,  and weekly programs.
  • Report all maintenance and safety concerns to the Corps Officer.
  • Perform related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be able to follow directions and operate cleaning equipment, including a buffer, vacuum, mops, shovels, and lawn equipment
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff and the public.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • You must be able to obtain clearances required by the Joseph R. Biden III and the Child Protection Act. 
  • Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
