Overview

Title: Youth and Family Education – After School Coordinator                            

Location: Harrisburg

Reports To: Youth and Family Education Administrator

Availability: August 2025 

Schedule: M – F 2:30pm-6:30pm, flex schedule as needed

Salary and Grade:  $21.00 per hour; 75

Responsibilities

Position Overview: The YFEASC will provide direct support to the Youth and Family Education Administrator in all operational aspects of the department which includes the Basketball Mentoring, Summer Youth Enrichment, Thrive, Parent and Family Engagement, 21st CCLC and other outreach opportunities. 

 

Description of Position: 

 

The YFEASC supervises all student and program partner activities while indirectly supervising seasonal and part-time staff within after school and summer programs. Maintains a safe and nurturing environment for the students, and clean and orderly classrooms. Coordinates and ensure proper implementation of program plans, instructors, group leaders, facilitators, volunteers, and guest speakers. Reviews student records via file, database and Procare for accuracy.  Provide detailed reports to the YFE Administrator detailing program results and human-interest stories. Facilitation of curriculum to assigned groups, liaison with both internal and external partnership programs, and sub in classrooms when other staff are out and as needed. As a licensed childcare center, ensures compliance with all DHS requirements.  Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:  

  • As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.
  • Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.
  • Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
