Department: GPO-Haven of Hope

Availability of Position: Immediate

Schedule: Varies

Reporting Relationship: Director of PSSM

Salary and Grade: $70,000  13E

Responsibilities

About Philadelphia Social Service Ministries: Philadelphia Social Service Ministries (PSSM) is the collection of social services programs that the Salvation Army provides in Philadelphia. These programs include family emergency housing, anti-trafficking, and permanent housing for seniors and chronically homeless adults.

 

Description of Position: The Community Center Director is responsible for the daily operations of Haven of Hope Community Center, including managing programs, events, facilities, staff, and finances. The Community Center Director will work with the Director of PSSM to enhance the center’s long-term development, such as identifying community needs, identifying and applying to potential funding sources, maintaining compliance with funders, and creating programs to address the community needs.

Qualifications

Requirements:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work (BSW). MSW preferred.
  • Previous experience managing residential programs.
  • Training in trauma-informed care and appreciation for the Sanctuary Model preferred.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks prior to employment: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check along with renewals every five years.
  • Must have an understanding of and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
