Department: PSSM                                       

Availability of Position: Immediate

Schedule: Full Time; 40+ hours per week

Reporting Relationship: Housing & Projects Coordinator  

Salary/Grade: $50,000 annual; 10 Exempt

Responsibilities

About Philadelphia Social Service Ministries & Door of Hope: Philadelphia Social Service Ministries (PSSM) is the collection of social services programs that the Salvation Army provides in Philadelphia. These programs include family emergency housing, anti-trafficking, permanent housing for seniors and chronically homeless adults, and Rapid Re-Housing through the Door of Hope Program. Door of Hope will provide Rapid Re-Housing for 25 families to end their homeless crisis and support them in becoming stably housed.

 

Description of Position: The Door of Hope Family Advocate will provide housing-focused case management to homeless families to support their transition into stable, permanent housing. This role includes supporting housing placement, service coordination, and follow-up support to ensure long-term housing stability. The Family Advocate works collaboratively with the Door of Housing Stabilization Specialist to ensure each Door of Hope family is provided with honorific and trauma-informed services to end their homeless crisis and support them to maintain stable housing and achieve self-sufficiency.

Qualifications

Requirements:  Bachelor’s in social work required, Master’s in social work preferred. As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter. Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check Must have an understanding of and support the Mission of The Salvation Army and the Sanctuary Model.
