About Philadelphia Social Service Ministries & Door of Hope: Philadelphia Social Service Ministries (PSSM) is the collection of social services programs that the Salvation Army provides in Philadelphia. These programs include family emergency housing, anti-trafficking, permanent housing for seniors and chronically homeless adults, and Rapid Re-Housing through the Door of Hope Program. Door of Hope will provide Rapid Re-Housing for 25 families to end their homeless crisis and support them in becoming stably housed.
Description of Position: The Door of Hope Housing Stabilization Specialist (HSS) works directly with families to assist them in finding stable housing. The HSS will spend time in the community connecting with various housing organizations, landlords etc, and will build up a community-based network to connect residents to stable housing. The HSS will conduct home visits, inspections to apartments, and support clients with housing related needs. The HSS facilitates a monthly group on housing stabilization topics and builds linkages in the community with employers, job training, and various other social service providers. The HSS will participate in weekly clinical meets and team meetings. The HSS works collaboratively with the Door of Home Family Advocate to ensure each Door of Hope family is provided wholistic and trauma-informed services to end their homeless crisis and support them to maintain stable housing and achieve self-sufficiency.
Requirements: Bachelor’s in social work required, Master’s in social work preferred. As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter. Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check Must have an understanding of and support the Mission of The Salvation Army and the Sanctuary Model.
