The warehouse baler is required to place ragout material in baler and operate it. This position will receive donations, place in sorting receptacles or designated area of warehouse, assist with loading and unloading incoming and outbound shipments,  operate motorized and manual equipment including forklifts, pallet trucks, and hand trucks to handle freight.

Responsibilities

  • Bale ragouts and trash as required. This position will be required to produce one bail of material an hour.
  • Shipments - Assist with loading and unloading incoming and outbound shipments. Operate motorized and manual equipment including forklifts, pallet trucks, and hand trucks to handle freight.
  • Maintaining a Clean and Safe Work Area – Bales of clothes are not piled any higher than four high. Piles of clothing are not directly on the floor.  They are placed on ‘cribbing’ to ensure proper air flow under the piles. Adhere to procedures for all equipment.
  • Work on loading dock – Sometimes employees will be assigned to work on loading dock area. This position will receive donations such as clothing, household items, and furniture at the dock, place in sorting receptacles or designated area of warehouse
  • Provide a positive experience for donors -This position is responsible to example a positive attitude and to provide a friendly environment for donors who come to the warehouse. It is important for donors to be greeted with respect for their donation, and that the atmosphere of the warehouse represents The Salvation Army in a positive manner. We place a high value on how our donors and customers are treated.
  • Follow Store Procedures – This position is required to follow all store procedures set by the Family Store Manager,Warehouse Supervisor or the Corps Officer. It will be required that this position adhere to all policies.
  • Assist with ragging out the sales floor as assigned.
  • Perform lawn and garden work, as needed

Qualifications

  • High school education preferred
  • No prior experience or training needed
