Under the direction of the Aquatics Manager, the Assistant Aquatics Manager (AAM) will assist with all day-to-day operations of the aquatics center and the administration of programs. The AAM will also help with the supervision, training, and development of the aquatics staff & associated work schedules. The AAM will coordinate the pool use schedule of various programs (ex., private swim lessons) and activities and complete routine clerical and administrative tasks, all while ensuring timely and effective communication concerning aquatics center activities and programs.

Staff Supervision
• Handle duties of the Aquatics Manager in their absence.
• Practice and teach safe work habits.
• Supervise lifeguards and all related aquatics personnel, as directed.
• Assist with planning, implementing, and evaluating in-service training sessions and participating in life-saving skill practices.
• Lead or assist staff with any aspect of aquatic programs, including but not limited to swim teams & swim meets.
Pool/Member Safety
• Respectfully and patiently enforce Camden Kroc Center rules to provide a safe environment for all members, visitors, and employees.
• Rescue swimmers in danger of drowning; respond appropriately to emergencies.
• Caution swimmers regarding unsafe areas and actions, maintaining order in swimming areas.
• Maintain constant observation of assigned areas to identify any signs of danger, analyze situations and adopt a quick and effective course of action (i.e., first aid, rescue breathing, CPR, or AED) as needed.
• Model safe work habits and contribute to the safety of the Kroc Center, co-workers, and the general public.
• Ensure staff is adhering to and enforcing all Aquatics Safety regulations.
Pool/Equipment Maintenance
• Inspect and maintain the cleanliness of all equipment, supplies, and pool apparatus, swimming pool areas, pool deck, team and storage room locker rooms, restrooms, trash cans, aquatic equipment storage areas, and other areas as assigned.
• Follow and enforce the equipment checkout program, reporting defects, necessary repairs, etc. Ensure all equipment assigned to the aquatic facilities is maintained and adequately inventoried regularly.
• Supervise the setup and breakdown of facility equipment and operate the Swim Meet Timing system as needed.
• Record and organize accurate records concerning attendance, accident reports, chlorine readings, and schedules.
• Assist with the daily maintenance of the pool, including organization and cleanliness.
Program Management
• Participate in Kroc Center promotional activities and events as necessary.
• Implement programs, training, and meetings to assist in the effective and efficient operation of the aquatics center.
• Coordinate communications with Swim Team Coaches concerning scheduling, equipment needs, and pool use.
• Collaborate with Kroc Fitness staff to ensure an appropriate amount and types of aqua exercise classes.
• Answer customer questions and provide information on programs offered.
Miscellaneous
• Assist with any aspect of aquatic programs, as needed.
• Establish and maintain a system for distributing, collecting, and filing all documents required for the effective operation of the aquatics center.
• Instruct and assist with group swimming lessons as needed.
• Update records and reports as assigned.
• Communicate effectively with co-workers and customers in person and over the phone.
• Wear standard apparel as the Aquatics Manager prescribes and exhibit a professional appearance while on duty.
• Attend required staff meetings and in-service training.
• Carry out The Salvation Army mission in your actions and words during your employment. Ensure that the ultimate goal of spiritual, emotional, and physical regeneration of all people is represented and infused in all programs, training, customer relations, and levels of operation.
• Perform other assignments/duties as directed by the supervisor.
• HS Diploma or GED required; must be at least 18 years of age.
• American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification or Equivalent; American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification or Equivalent; Certified Pool Operator Preferred; American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Trainer preferred.
• Two years of previous Lifeguard Supervisory experience and three years of active lifeguard experience are preferred.
• Must be able to complete pool chemical and safety checks independently.
• Previous customer service experience is required.
• Water Aerobics Class & Parent-Child Classes (Mommy and Me etc.) instruction experience a plus.
• Must commit to working weekends/holidays/evening hours as needed.
