Organize and coordinate our Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen by preparing balanced meals for all soup kitchen guests.

Responsibilities

Overseeing the Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen daily operations and food service includes:

  • Prepare and cook or coordinate up to 100 balanced meals for the soup kitchen guests
  • Secure volunteer groups for food preparation, cooking and service
  • Maintain the monthly calendar of volunteer groups for food preparation, cooking and service
  • Supervising the cleaning of the dining room and kitchen
  • Coordinating with other employees to keep pantries and supplies properly stocked
  • Assist Officers, staff, and volunteers off load large volume food donations from area businesses
  • Assist Officers, staff, and volunteers pick up food donations from area businesses – as needed
  • Providing monthly statistics related to programs under coordination
  • Refer clients to Corps Social Service Caseworker for addition community resources when appropriate
  • Coordinating with Officers and volunteers on the homeless outreach Canteen ministry
  • Performing any other duties related to job responsibilities as determined by the Corps Officer

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year of related experience
  • Time Management and statistical tracking skill
  • Must be organized
  • Have an up to date ServSafe Manager certificate or complete within 30 days of hire
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Have CPR/First Aid certificate or complete within first 90 days of hire
