Our Eastern Territorial Headquarters I.T. Department has an exciting opportunity for a Communications Specialist. This is a full-time, temporary, twelve (12) week position which requires approximately 35 hours of work per week and is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement (3 days onsite/ 2 days remote). Our office is located in West Nyack, NY.
The IT Communications Specialist is responsible for supporting the IT Department in its efforts to educate and inform internal users through clear, user-friendly communications. This temporary role focuses on creating engaging content that simplifies technical concepts, promotes IT best practices, and supports project rollouts and alerts. The specialist will work closely with the User Experience Manager and collaborate with subject matter experts to develop a range of materials, including how-to guides, quick tips, service notices, and email templates. Strong visual communication skills and the ability to translate complex technical topics into plain language are key to success in this role.
• Create standardized templates for IT communication. Create materials in a storytelling format and condense complex topics into simple visuals and text for non-technical audiences.
• Draft IT notices, alerts, and service updates under the supervision of User Experience Manager.
• Design user guides, tip sheets, and quick-reference materials to support new system rollouts or technical changes.
• Assist in developing graphics, infographics, and visual aids using Canva, Adobe Express, or similar tools.
• Contribute to the creation and maintenance of an internal IT knowledge base.
• Edit and format PowerPoint slides and communication materials to ensure consistency with brand guidelines.
• Participate in content brainstorming sessions and assist with campaign development for projects and initiatives.
• Other duties as assigned.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
• Basic understanding of IT concepts or a willingness to learn quickly through research and collaboration with subject matter experts.
• Familiarity with design tools such as Canva or Adobe Express. Must be willing and able to learn quickly if not already proficient.
• Ability to explain technical information in a clear, concise, and engaging way for non-technical audiences.
• Ability to take direction and work collaboratively as part of a team.
