Overview

The Salvation Army’s Lowell is hiring (2) Summer Camp Group Leaders and offers the following benefit package to part-time employees:

Location: Lowell, MA

Pay Range: $15.00 per hour

                     16 hours per week

                     July 7, 2025 - August 15, 2025 (Seasonal position)

 

Work with the Corps Officer & Youth Ministries Coordinator to implement the day-to-day activities of the children enrolled in the Summer Camp while providing a positive experience for children in all programs.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education Requirements

 

High School diploma/College background preferred

 

Work/Volunteer Experience

 

Minimum of six months’ experience working or volunteering with school-age children. 

 

Other Qualifications

 

  • Must have a keen interest and sincere appreciation for children and be able to relate well with individuals with varying needs.
  • Must be reliable.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, written & orally

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Assist with the daily activities such as devotions, crafts, mystery programs, character building, structured and unstructured gym recreation, music, drama, lunch, snacks, games, trips, etc.
  • Assist with planning, preparing and implementing the day-to-day activities.
  • Provide supervision and general childcare for campers while on and off site.
  • Assist Corps Officer and Youth Coordinator by adhering to schedule and coordination of programs. Including but not limited to daily activity schedules, group outings and program guidelines.
  • Handle all disciplinary actions with campers with the assistance of the Youth Ministries Coordinator. Report all campers’ issues to the Youth Ministries Coordinator immediately.
  • Complete and file reports regarding programs, activities, disciplinary or accident issues in a timely and orderly manner.
  • Keeping records/statistics as requested from Youth Ministries Coordinator.
  • Assist with set up and clean-up of program areas (meals, before and after program daily).
  • Receive and dismiss children daily in the designated area.
  • Represent The Salvation Army’s spiritual ministry and social mission in the Summer Camp program.
  • Must complete Camp Staff Orientation which includes Keep SAfe Training
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
