Requirements include:
- Sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or occasional continuous basis.
- Grasp, push, pull objects
- Operate telephone and other electronic communication devices.
- Operate various other office equipment including personal computers, copiers, fax machines, and scanning equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally.
- Ability to think logically and critically.
- Ability to solve complex problems, make appropriate judgments and decisions
- Principal Functions
The main function of the Junior Lifeguard is to always ensure patron safety in the splash pad area. During this time, the Junior Lifeguard will go through the certification training to become a Lifeguard.
- Duties and Responsibilities
- Lifeguard Certification Training – learn how to prevent, identify, and respond to aquatic emergencies.
- Facility Safety and proper use of equipment
- Working alone and as part of lifeguarding team
- Recognizing water emergencies
- Developing emergency policies and procedures
- Water rescue techniques
- Emergency assessment and treatment
- Must always remain alert staying within your designated area of responsibility
- Always ensure patron safety
- Be prepared to always act quickly, especially in times of emergency
- Create a positive experience for patrons through professional and courteous behavior
- Follow the facilities Emergency Action Plan accordingly in the event of an emergency
- Provide excellent customer service
- Provide safety for patrons by educating them of the rules and policies in a positive polite way
- Always wear the required uniform while on duty:
- Red shorts
- Water appropriate footwear
- Attendant T-shirt issued by Aquatic Center
- Whistle
- Two-way Radio (provided by the Aquatic Center)
- No hats or sunglasses
- Be on time for your shift and after breaks or down shifts
- Perform other related duties as assigned, including occasional cleaning shifts.
