Schedule: Full Time; Generally Monday thru Friday, 11am to 7pm; Occasional weekends may be required
Salary Grade: $16.50 per hour; 73; Non-Exempt

Responsibilities

Function: The function of the Assistant Facilities Manager and Relief Cook (AFMRC) is to assist with

handling building and equipment repairs as needed, emergency clean up and/or janitorial work, contact and supervise outside contractors, as needed, such as HVAC mechanics, electricians, plumbers, alarm system technicians, assist with seasonal projects (toy shop set up), and utilize Salvation Army vehicles to collect tools, supplies, and equipment throughout the community. The AFMRC preps and cook meals for Childcare and Shelter Clients on an emergency/fill-in basis.

 

Duties Include:

  • Assist with responding to fire, security and life safety systems.
  • Assist with daily monitor all utilities and systems for the entire center.
  • Make minor building, furniture, and equipment repairs, as needed, and inform leadership of all needed repairs which are beyond the capacity of this position. Expectations will include carpeting, tile work, dry-wall work, painting, and minor mechanical work, plumbing, electrical, etc.
  • Operate machinery and climb ladders as needed to fulfill job related responsibilities.
  • Unload and stock deliveries of goods and supplies as needed and/or as directed by leadership.
  • Replace light bulbs, emergency lights & exit signs, and ceiling tiles as needed.
  • Assist with the Christmas Program set up, etc. with State Coordinator and Facilities Manager.
  • Clean all assigned areas. You are responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of every room in your zone.
  • Help to maintain outdoor areas as directed to include shoveling snow, cutting/trimming grass, weeding, litter to be picked up and disposed of.
  • Respond to staff and leadership to assist with carting supplies, materials in and around the facilities for regular and seasonal activities, including, but not limited to, unloading trucks, donations of toys and canned food and assisting with toy shop set up, breakdown and operations.
  • Assist with driving to pick up supplies, donations, etc.
  • Report on maintenance and safety concerns to the supervisor
  • Prep and Cook meals for Childcare and Shelter participants on an emergency/fill-in basis.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the State Coordinator or Facilities Manager necessary for the normal, safe, efficient, clean operations of The Salvation Army programs under the Delaware State Offices.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of building maintenance, as well possess the ability to handle minor mechanical, plumbing, and electrical repairs and the ability to operate cleaning equipment (i.e. buffer, lawn tractor, etc.)
  • Must Be ServSafe certified within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to prepare and serve quality, bulk meals.
  • Must be willing and able to travel, as well as have a valid driver’s license that meets The Salvation Army’s insurance requirements.
  • Meet the Child Protection Clearances required by Delaware’s Beau Biden Law based on information found on the SBI and FBI Criminal Record Checks.
  • Must possess an understanding of and support the mission of The Salvation Army and its core values
