Overview

Reporting to the Food Service Manager, the Driver/Food Service Worker provides delivery and transportation services over specific routes.  Facilities and Food Service Department duties require the exerting of normal physical effort in addition to some moderate and heavy lifting. Hours for this position are Mon-Fri  8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for making sure Box truck is kept clean and well maintained per maintenance schedule, and refueled after each trip as needed.
  2. Provide safe and timely transportation and delivery of food, perishable product, goods, documents or mail.
  3. Loading and unloading of food/perishable product.
  4. Inspect and clean Box truck at least once per week.
  5. Unlock and lock buildings as needed, ensuring buildings are always secured upon entering or leaving. (Northwest Corps only)
  6. Perform miscellaneous custodial/maintenance duties including but not limited to cleaning kitchen, equipment, parking lots and sidewalks, bathrooms, interior and exterior windows; operating floor-polisher or buffer; replenishing custodial supplies.
  7. Shovel and salt sidewalks and entryways as needed (refer to winter schedule from Facilities Manager).
  8. Take out trash and recyclable materials as needed.
  9. Assist with set ups and take downs for Salvation Army events.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. High School Diploma/GED
  2. A valid New York State Driver License that meets the Salvation Army insurance requirements.
  3. Must be able to lift 20-40 pounds.
  4. Frequent internal contacts within the organization and frequent external contact with community representatives, visitors and vendors requiring considerable tact and courtesy.
