The Arts Coordinator oversees the development, execution, and ongoing evaluation of quality and developmentally age-appropriate programs, activities, services, and special events for youths aged 5-18, adults, and seniors in Kroc's arts program areas. These areas include dance, music, theater, arts & crafts, singing, and other art programs.
The duties listed below are the primary duties of this position but are not all the duties that may be required. • Develop and implement a variety of collaborative programs and activities for the Kroc Arts Program in
collaboration with the Family & Youth Development Manager, other departments, and if needed, community organizations.
• Create and assess lesson plans that reflect skills learned, assets being developed, and special needs to
meet kids' levels of learning and special needs.
• Ensure that lessons and programs fulfill Kroc standards by monitoring their quality.
• Identify key performance indicators to improve program quality and promote program growth and report
progress monthly.
• Prepare a class schedule for each curriculum area by the timeframes set.
• Teach at least 6 hours of visual/performing arts classes per week, including classes after school and
summer camp.
• Develop and implement a system for monitoring student development and graduation to the next level of
arts education.
• Include arts participants in Corps programming, such as leading performances quarterly during Sunday
worship, and assisting with Monday Corps programs.
• Research creative arts programs to inspire new programs and activities at the Kroc Center.
• Build positive relationships with participants, families, and staff.
• Work with the Family & Youth Development Program Manager on program marketing, promotion, and
participant enrollment in dance, music, theater, and visual arts classes, programs, and special events.
• Work with Kroc Center staff to plan/acquire space usage, materials, supplies, audio, and video
requirements. Secure, and maintain, materials, equipment, and other resources belonging to the program
area(s). Maintain cleanliness of program area(s).
• Produce, direct, and book a performing arts ensemble to represent The Salvation Army Kroc Center at
internal and external events.
• Collaborate with the Volunteer Manager to organize volunteers and consultants who can provide members
with relevant training, support, and assistance.
• Supervise department personnel (including work-study students, junior staff, and volunteers).
• Facilitate two semiannual meetings focusing on arts programming
• Attend all department and organization meetings and training as assigned.
• Learn and master the use of the electronic equipment in the Black Box Theater & the Chapel.
• Bachelor’s Degree in General arts or education required.
• Must have 3 years of experience instructing classes.
• Current First Aid, CPR, and AED preferred.
• Demonstrated experience designing, directing, and implementing performing arts programs.
• Experience working with a culturally and socioeconomically diverse population preferred.
• Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred.
• Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel).
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Ability to obtain a clear physical, TB test, & fingerprinting.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be approved to drive Salvation Army vehicles.
