Overview

The Salvation Army’s Haverhill Corp., is hiring a Cook/Food Service Coordinator and offers the following benefit package to part-time employees:

Location: Haverhill, MA

Pay Range: $20 per hour

                     20 hours per week

 

The Cook/Food Service Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day Food Service Operation at the Haverhill Corps.  This person must perform duties including but not limited to menu planning, cooking, cleaning and inventory control.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be ServSafe, Kitchen Manager certified
  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified
  • Must have allergen awareness certification
  • Supervisory skills preferred (to manage volunteers)
  • Must have excellent organization skills
  • Must understand FIFO inventory control
  • Must be able to lift an average of 50lbs
  • Must be able to treat all people of varying background with dignity and respect
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, bi-lingual preferred

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a commercial kitchen
  • Experience with creating menus and preparing meals for 100 -200 clients

Duties & Responsibilites:

  1. Prepare daily meals according to planned menus, with flexibility to creatively utilize food donations
  2. Follow all ServSafe protocols regarding proper handling and storage of food and equipment.
  3. Regularly clean all kitchen equipment, counters, floors, etc
  4. Work and meet regularly with Corps Officer (s) to review personnel issues, menu plans, and supply and purchasing needs
  5. Prepare, cook and serve meals on site to those in need, sometimes with the assistance of volunteers
  6. Recruit, train, and supervise all volunteers related to the Soup Kitchen
  7. Maintain inventory of food and supplies
  8. Perform other duties within the scope of the position.
