Job Focus:

Responsible for processing various transactions, reporting, and accounting responsibilities as needed for the Accounting Department.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Process cash receipts
  • Code all deposits
  • Help prepare documents for funding reports and generate certain monthly billings
  • Record and report cartridge giving and generate annual statements
  • Process and code petty cash transactions
  • Process Accounts Payable as needed
  • Journal entry processing
  • Assist Fiscal Manager as needed in:
    • -preparing budgets, reports, billing and monitoring of grants
    • -providing financial reports as required to specified funding sources
    • -reviewing the allocation of resources to ensure they are being sourced to appropriate programs
    • -coordinating and analyzing fiscal trends
  • Work with divisional headquarters and other entities as required
  • Responsible for receiving, secure and count kettle funding. This includes assisting with evening bill straightening and being onsite in the evenings to oversee the process. NOTE: The evening duties (Monday-Saturday) are shared with the Fiscal Manager.
  • Provide other services as required for the efficient functioning of The Salvation Army

Qualifications

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

  • 2 years’ accounting experience with a high level of knowledge in Accounts Payable & Receivable
  • Experience in a non-profit setting preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required
  • Valid State Driver’s License required
  • Good communication skills (written & oral); able to write legibly
  • Highly organized and keen attention to detail
  • Must be prompt and maintain regular attendance
  • Sterling interpersonal skills; applies tact and diplomacy in dealing with internal and external constituents
  • Honesty and integrity a must
  • Flexibility & Strong work ethic
  • Attain a high level of discretion and confidentiality
