Overview

Reporting directly to the Camp Coordinator, the Counselor is responsible for the supervision of the children enrolled in the Kids Summer Adventure program.

 

This is a seasonal position running from 6/26/25-8/1/15. Monday through Friday - 35 hours/week

Responsibilities

  1. Supervise and lead activites/games during the program.
  2. Uphold program policies and rules.
  3. Ensure children are on time for all activities.
  4. Monitor children at all times.
  5. Report any health or emotion problems observed in children to Corps Officers.
  6. Attend any staff meetings.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. High school diploma/GED required with 2 years related experience
  2. Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  3. Ability to work independently and exercise initiative
  4. Ability to take charge and motivate others
  5. Ability to work with a wide variety of ages and demographic groups
  6. Ability to observe camper behavior, enforce safety regulations and emergency procedures and respond appropriately
  7. Must have enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self control
  8. College students/graduates with previous camp/childcare experience preferred
  9. Valid NY State Driver License that meets The Salvation Army’s insurance requirements
  10. Professionally and ethically represent The Salvation Army and its mission to the staff, families, and community
