Overview

The Maintenance Worker is responsible for supporting Corps programs, activities, and operations from a property/maintenance perspective, including assisting with special projects, helping with the food pantry, and general cleaning and maintenance.

Responsibilities

The duties listed below are the primary duties of this position but are not all the required duties. The Salvation Army reserves the right to change, reduce or expand the duties of this position at any time. • Support the weekly food pantry by stocking it, assisting clients, and helping with inventory.
• Receive donations and deliveries.
• Provide janitorial support as needed.
• Assist with building projects as assigned.
• Remove trash from the kitchen, bathrooms, and offices daily.
• Keep the outside grounds free of garbage and debris.
• Clean the Corps vehicles weekly.
• Wash the foyer floors and windows weekly.
• Support seasonal activities and special events.
• Oversee building security during work hours.
• Observe responsible stewardship by protecting the Corps’ property and equipment.
• Follow all Salvation Army KeepSAfe policies to protect children and vulnerable adults.
• Be an active part of The Salvation Army team in Asbury Park, including involvement in Corps events as requested, cross-promotion of other areas of Corps work, and promoting The Salvation Army’s mission.
• Keep program and work areas clean and organized.
• Attend staff meetings and training as assigned.
• Other duties within the scope of the role as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to handle the physical demands of the position with or without reasonable accommodation (i.e., lifting up to 50 lbs., standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pulling, pushing, etc.).
• Must understand and support the mission of The Salvation Army.

 

Desired Qualifications
• Able to work independently and relate professionally with other staff.
• Able to follow through with assigned tasks and communicate effectively with supervisors and other
staff.
