Overview

Position: Day Camp Coordinator

Department: York. PA

Availability of Position: May 15, 2025-August 8, 2025

Schedule: FT, M-F 8:00am-4:30pm

Reporting Relationship: Community Center Director/Corps Officer

Salary and Grade: 76, NE

Responsibilities

Position Overview:

A committed Christian with a solid relationship with Jesus Christ who will develop, conduct and coordinate all programs for children and youth as well as direct the Community Center and all of its programs. 

 

Description of Position: 

  • The Day Camp Coordinator will:
  • assist the Corps Officers with the creative oversight and planning of the day camp program
  • interact with parents and campers. Must possess the ability and desire to work with the children to have an exceptional spiritual, emotional, physical and intellectual enhancement while in our care.
  • Lead and instruct staff to maintain a safe and healthy environment with the staff, children, and employees of the Salvation Army.
  • Be present in all programs, ensuring that order is maintained with children and staff alike.
  • Have themed devotions planned and implemented when it is your day to present program.
  • Weekly newsletter written and released to parents each Monday informing parents of weekly schedule plans and activities that will be taking place.

Qualifications

Requirements:  

  •  Has had significant experience in youth programming and leadership (no less than 2 years).
  • Has good organizational skills.
  • This role requires the ability to work and relate well with both staff and camper/parents/guardians; must have a positive attitude toward helping and fostering children in their development.
  • Realize this is a Christian Day Camp program, and it as well as you must profess a faith in Christ and a desire to serve Him.
  • Ability to develop and maintain program schedule, along with the ability to lead group devotions, singing, activities, both large and small groups.
  • Valid PA Driver’s License with good record and able to be approved driver for The Salvation Army based on insurance criteria
  • As a Mandated reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse.
  • Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks prior to employment: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check along with renewals every five years.
  • Must have an understanding of and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
