The Salvation Army’s New Bedford Corp. is hiring a Cook/Food Service Coordinator and offers the following benefit package to part-time employees:

Pay Range: $16.50 per hour

                     20 hours per week (9am – 1pm)

The Cook/Food Service Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day food service operations at the New Bedford Corps.  This individual must perform functions including but not limited to providing meals for programs (e.g. Feeding Program, Music Program, Seniors Program, Special Event and Emergency Disaster Services), catering and special event planning.

Work Experience

·         Must have training in the Food & Beverage Industry

·         Experience in meal preparation for various size groups, up to 300

·         Supervisory Skills

·         Current ServSafe Manager certification

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Prepare daily meals according to planned menus, with flexibility to creatively utilize food donations.

1. Maintain, clean, and keep the kitchen orderly in accordance with Department of Health regulations.

1. Manage and coordinate in partnership with facilities all kitchen inspections, permits, equipment repairs and monthly cleaning

1. Provide social ministries with food distribution support: food inventory, food storage coordination, ordering and volunteer management

1. Manage volunteer partnerships

1. Work and meet regularly with the Social Ministries Manager / Corps Officers re: menu planning, food service, and personnel /volunteers’ issues. Promptly relay supply and purchasing needs.

1. Foster cooperative atmosphere in kitchen working with staff, volunteers and guests who will be assisting with preparation and cleanup responsibilities.

1. Ensure that all safety, sanitation, energy management and preventive maintenance plans are in continual use.

1. Monitor purchasing and receiving procedures for products and supplies to meet guidelines set for quality and pricing.

1. Attend staff meetings as schedule allows.

1. Ensure all staff (volunteers, other staff, etc.) are properly and accurately trained in the safe use of all equipment, if needed.

1. Ensure all equipment is inspected on a weekly basis; ensure the timely repair of all equipment, submit work orders and service calls as necessary; ensure the facility repair work is completed in a timely manner.

1. Ensure an adequate reserve of program supply. If items are missing, report immediately to the supervisor.

1. Report all injuries in a timely manner and according to procedure.

1. Remain up to date with all trainings including KeepSAfe.

1. Perform other duties within the scope of the position as assigned.

• Ability to utilize computer programs currently available in food service operation

• Must be able to lift and carry 40 lbs
• Must have excellent customer service skills
