Overview

Position: Events and Special Campaigns Manager

Department:  Greater Philadelphia

Availability of Position:Immediate

Schedule:  Full time, flexible hours, weekends as needed

Reporting Relationship: Community Relations and Marketing Senior Executive Manager; Indirectly: Divisional Director of Corporate Engagement

Salary Grade: 12, Exempt

Responsibilities

 Position Overview:

  • Under the direction of the Community Relations and Marketing Senior Executive Manager, coordinate logistics of special events for The Salvation Army in Greater Philadelphia from start to finish.
  • Plan, support, and execute the Greater Philadelphia Annual Luncheon, working closely with the event’s host committee and relevant staff on all logistics.
  • Plan, support, and execute the Greater Philadelphia Red Kettle Kickoff.
  • Create, develop, and maintain goals, sponsorship trackers, and task spreadsheets and databases that are event specific.
  • Support and coordinate Greater Philadelphia’s Red Kettle Campaign, utilizing incorporating online and digital giving platforms as necessary and appropriate.
  • Track and report on Red Kettle Campaign results
  • Conduct relevant mass mailings regarding special events and campaigns: invitations, timely acknowledgements, and other outreach as directed by the Community Relations and Marketing Senior Executive Manager.
  • Support the Community Relations and Marketing Senior Executive Manager in the development of promotional items, digital, printed materials, and other details relevant to special events and campaigns.
  • In coordination with additional team members, refer, develop, and maintain professional relationships and rapport with key contacts for event support and implementation.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with all event vendors, key staff, and external stakeholders to uphold the integrity of The Salvation Army’s Brand.
  • Support the Divisional Secretary for Greater Philadelphia and Advisory Board in the development of an annual calendar of events for Greater Philadelphia.
  • Provide necessary assistance to Greater Philadelphia volunteer events and in-kind donation campaigns.
  • Support the Community Relations and Marketing Senior Executive Manager in the development and execution of marketing and media relations strategy as needed, available, and appropriate.
  • Perform other tasks as needed, are appropriate, and assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:  

  • Minimum BS or BA degree, preferably in relevant field such as Business, Sales, or Hospitality, and a minimum of 1-3 years of relevant event planning professional experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to relate effectively, reliably and professionally with corporate professionals and others
  • Must be able to effectively multitask with deadlines and follow through consistently and strategically
  • Must be well-organized, proactive, able to work independently and follow-up accordingly.
  • Must be computer proficient, able to easily and effectively use email, Microsoft Office applications, Google Suite and donor and volunteer management software.
  • Must demonstrate good judgement, leadership characteristics and work well as part of a team. Able to work effectively and in harmony with officers, staff and volunteers.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel as needed, flexible on scheduling (including attendance at early morning, evening or weekend meetings/events.
  • Adherence to the AFP Code of Ethics.
  • Adherence to TSA's Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks prior to employment: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check along with renewals every five years.
  • Must have an understanding of and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
