Overview

Position: Community Center Director

Department: Community Center

Availability of Position:  May 1, 2025

Schedule:  Monday – Friday 12:00-8:00

Reporting Relationship:  Corps Commanding Officer

Salary and Grade: 76    Status: Full time- non-exempt

Position Overview:

A committed Christian with a solid relationship with Jesus Christ who will develop, conduct and coordinate all programs for children and youth as well as direct the Community Center and all of its programs. 

 

Responsibilities

Description of Position:                 

  • Be responsible to develop and expand new and existing programs for children and
  • Oversees a safe and healthy environment for children during program hours.
  • Assist in hiring of staff for the After-School program and Day Camp program.
  • Schedule staff so that adequate coverage is maintained for all rooms and activities.
  • Coordinate with Learning Center Director how both programs will work together
  • Responsible for collecting, journaling, and processing membership fees and that they are current in order for children to participate in program.
  • Assist with the Christmas distribution (i.e. Toy Shop and Food distribution packing and distribution).
  • Organize and plan the Summer Day Camp program (5-7 weeks)
  • Coordinate and run the Women’s Volleyball League, Men’s Open gym, Men’s Basket Ball league
  • Preform related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Requirements:             

 

  • High school diploma; College degree preferred
  • Has had significant experience in youth programming and leadership (no less than 2 years).
  • Has good organizational skills.
  • Actively participates in the worship and ministry of the Corps.
  • Valid PA Driver’s License with good record and able to be approved driver for The Salvation Army based on insurance criteria
  • As a Mandated reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse.
  • Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks prior to employment: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check along with renewals every five years.
  • Must have an understanding of and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
