Overview

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB.

 

The Family Services Worker will provide direct assistance to clients to alleviate the immediate

need for food, clothing, utility and other assistance.

 

Interview and assess clients, providing direct assistance or referral to outside agencies as appropriate.

Assist in administering seasonal social service programs. Maintain accurate records for each client per

internal/external funding guidelines.

 

The Family Services Worker will be responsible for compiling the program statistics monthly per

organizational and funding guidelines.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

 

  • Interview clients, maintain client files, and assist with services such as emergency food, utilities, rent, and other basic services.
  • Schedule appointments for clients as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality both with clients and other agencies/service providers
  • Maintain statistics on Social Services
  • Maintain accurate and confidential files and reports as required.
  • Work with Corps Officers on special projects such as Christmas, Summer Camp, Back-to-School Project, etc.
  • Oversee Panty and lunch programs.
  • Order food/supplies and maintain inventories for Pantry and Lunch Programs.
  • Make appropriate referrals for clients to various agencies/organizations and coordinate service with said agencies/organizations
  • Attend meetings/seminars/workshops as requested to represent the Lorain Salvation Army and to network with other service providers.

 

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE.

  • Associate Degree in Social Services preferred, or a minimum of 3 years’ experience in related field.

 

 SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Knowledge of computers
  • Knowledge of various software including but not limited to Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, or ability to learn quickly.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Very good written and communication skills
  • Must be able to lift 25lbs
  • Valid Driver License
  • Bi-lingual preferred.
