Overview

The custodial workers are responsible for the specified and/or general upkeep of the Harbor Light Complex and its surrounding grounds (i.e. mini-park, parking lot).

 

 

This position pays $16.00/hr.

Responsibilities

  • Notify the Facilities Manager concerning needs for repairs, safety needs and security concerns.
  • Notify the Facilities Manager and co-workers regarding any delays with work projects.
  • Floor maintenance – i.e. dust mop and wet mop all hard surface floors, utilize floor scrubbing machine as needed. Vacuum carpet areas within assigned areas.
  • Sweep and mop stairwells. Dispose of any trash found in the stairwell area.
  • Facility garbage – removal and disposal of all common area trash.
  • Restrooms – cleaning/sanitizing urinals, toilets, showers, sink and mirrors. Stock restrooms with necessary products as needed.
  • Wash interior windows/glass.
  • Dust furniture, walls and equipment. Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs and other pieces of furniture withing assigned area.
  • Loading and unloading of deliveries and dumpsters.
  • Cleaning of roof and drains.
  • Snow shoveling and salting of all HLC facility sidewalks, driveways, entrances and parking lot.
  • Assist lead maintenance workers and co-workers with various assignments.
  • Thoroughly complete and return paperwork in a timely fashion.
  • Operate elevator as needed
  • Must be able to work overtime in case of an emergency or when deemed necessary.
  • Work in a laundry room with temperatures around 90 degrees. Washing, drying folding linen.
  • Push cart throughout building collecting and distributing linen mop heads.
  • Keep inventory of all housekeeping equipment.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with all staff members.
  • Adhere to all written personnel and program policies of The Salvation Army.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to routinely lift and carry boxes weighing 25 pounds or more.
  • Ability to walk, stand and bend, stoop and reach throughout the duration of 8 hour shift.
  • Must be able to use stairs, when necessary, for building evacuations, drills or during elevator maintenance.
  • Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures.
  • Experience using cleaning equipment – vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers and other standard cleaning equipment.
