SUPERVISES:            No Direct Reports

STATUS:                     Full-time, Exempt                    

SCHEDULE:               35 hours per week (8:30 – 4:00, Monday – Friday and as needed)

FUNCTION:                Manage TSA Emergency Disaster Services for SWONEKY communities and assist with territorial response through phases of preparedness, response, and recovery.

Responsibilities

DUTIES: 

  • Planning: Develop and manage operational procedures, oversee EDS training, manage resources and equipment inventories, develop vendor agreements, engage Coordinating Councils, support EDS requests from DHQ and THQ for planning/training initiatives.  Manage equipment standards, compliance, and services.
  • Operation: Coordinate and oversee the activation of division-wide disaster response of EDS staff and volunteers.  Support local corps with development and management of day-to-day operations of the EDS program within the SWO division.  Provide daily Sitemap Reports to THQ of EDS within the division.
  • Internal Liaison: Serve as the Chair of the EDS Committee, POC for Coordinating Councils for local corps, DHQ and THQ.  Serve as SWO division representative to THQ EDS.
  • External Network: Build and maintain collaborative relationships with other emergency response agencies including FEMA, VOAD, Police, Fire, Ambulance Personnel, etc. and local disaster service organizations.
  • Volunteers: Arrange the EDS training calendar for volunteers identified by DHQ, Corps, and Service Units to include:  ServSafe, FPR/First Aid, DSC, and THQ EDS courses.
  • Funding:  Support Divisional fundraising programs/initiatives to both internal/external audiences for fiscal and in-kind support.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • AA or BA preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years EDS experience.
  • Must have knowledge of strategic planning, coordination of people and resources.
  • Understanding of volunteer management and retention.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and pass a motor vehicle record check.
  • Must be able to follow through on action steps with short notice.
  • Must be organized with good attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work on an “on-call basis” and with irregular hours.
  • Emotional and Spiritual Care understanding is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of computer programs: MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Independence, flexibility, and a cooperative spirit, and the desire to continue to expand the EDS program are crucial characteristics of the individual who holds this important position.
