Overview

The Maintenance Supervisor will assist the Director of Maintenance in the continuous upkeep and management of all buildings, grounds, and properties, including off-campus housing for the College for Officer Training. This role involves overseeing and coordinating maintenance activities to ensure that all facilities are safe, functional, and well-maintained.

 

In addition to managing day-to-day maintenance operations, the Maintenance Supervisor will play a key role in developing and implementing maintenance schedules, conducting regular inspections, and promptly addressing any repair needs. By fostering a proactive approach to facility management, the Maintenance Supervisor helps to enhance the overall environment for students and staff, ensuring that all properties meet the highest standards of safety and quality.

Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with the Director of Maintenance, direct, supervise, and support the maintenance team.
  • Addresses discipline concerns with the Director of Maintenance.
  • Assist in the annual performance reviews of staff.
  • Assist in the planning and preparation of training and orientation of new maintenance team members.
  • Assess building systems to plan work assignments.
  • Maintain fire evacuation drill logs.
  • Keep accurate records of reports, handbooks, and policies on compliance with safety regulations.
  • Supervises and assigns work tickets to the maintenance team.
  • Collaborates with team members to discuss upcoming work assignments.
  • Reviews and approves materials, equipment, and supplies assigned for work tickets or projects.
  • Be prepared to assist in completing general repairs such as painting, patching walls, hanging shelves and hardware, and other work assigned.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Maintenance coordinates renovation of approved projects.
  • Meets with the Director of Maintenance on 1:1 to discuss overall operations, team efficiency, projects, costs, and scheduling of projects.
  • Assists the Director of Maintenance in team meetings.
  • Ensure Maintenance Staff follows proper safety policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates the set-up and dismantling of areas for special events (on-site and off-site) related to CFOT.
  • Support the maintenance team with snow removal plans.
  • Serve as the point of contact for Emergency Call-Ins, assessing needs and providing assistance; this may include weekends and evenings.
  • Be available to serve on committees.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the supervisor or Director of Business.

Qualifications

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and two years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a maintenance or facilities management environment.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot various systems effectively.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with team members and other departments.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Experience in repairs, renovations, and general building maintenance
  • Plumbing, Electrical, and HVAC
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, codes, and workplace safety
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate.
  • Ability to identify issues and determine proper repairs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or related software to complete reports and inventory.
