Overview

Position: Learning Zone Site Coordinator                                                                     

Department: Philadelphia Temple Corps Community Center        

Availability of Position: Immediate

Schedule: FT, 40hrs/wk, Mon-Fri., 11:00am -7:00pm, other hours as needed

Reporting Relationship: Corps Commanding Officer

Salary and Grade: 76; Non-Exempt

Position Overview:

 The Learning Zone Site Coordinator (LZSC) is responsible for the overall operational coordination of the Corps afterschool program, including staff supervision, parent and school communications, and curriculum development and implementation. The LZSC will maintain excellent records and reports for funding sources, follows protocol and procedures to achieve compliance inspections, maintains goals and objectives related to assigned curriculums. The Program Director oversees the After-School and Summer Camp programs and works with Ministry Coordinator to effectively integrate Salvation Army programming.

Responsibilities

Supervision:

  • Collaborate with Ministry Coordinator for interviewing and hiring staff.
  • Resolve conflicts to ensure a positive experience for everyone, including corrective action when necessary.
  • Communicate any potential issues or concerns regarding personnel, parents, peers, partners, or program participants to supervisors as soon as practicable.
  • Conduct regular staff and parent meetings – quarterly at minimum.
  • Complete and maintain staff and personal professional development plans to ensure continuous quality improvement of all childcare staff.

 Administration:

  • Oversee program administration, including. but not limited to. tuition payments, subsidy voucher payments, managing supplies, and conducting monthly statistical reports in accordance with The Salvation Army policy & procedures and local laws.
  • Oversee proper record keeping and weekly/monthly reporting, including activities and events conducted, breakdowns of daily participation figures, notable achievements, and any problems/issues.
  • Maintain staff and student records in accordance with established enrollment procedures and state guidelines.
  • Assist and support other activities as needed or instructed by the Ministry Coordinator, such as with the Seasonal Programs (i.e. Backpack Program, Toys, Coats, Kettle Campaign, etc.), as required.
  • Other duties within the scope of the role, as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in education/business or related field and a minimum of three years of responsible experience managing, coordinating, and organizing youth serving programs funded by federal and state agencies.
  • Specific knowledge of 21st Learning Center operations, and CCIS State licensing program components, reporting, monitoring, and funding requirements are a plus. 
  • Must possess strong administration skills and be responsive, detail oriented, flexible, creative, and have the ability to see projects through to completion.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • This role requires the ability to work and relate well with funders, staff, and parents/guardians.
  • Must have a positive attitude toward helping and fostering children in their development.
  • Ability to develop and maintain a directed schedule, along with the ability to lead a group of children and staff, both large and small groups.

  • Maintain a standard of excellent and possess the ability to work well under supervision.
  • Must foster a spirit of compassion and commitment to the children that participate in the Site program.
  • A valid Driver’s license, ability to drive a 12-passenger van, and ability to pass the Salvation Army van driver certification course.
  • CPR/First Aid certified preferred; must be willing to get certified within the first 90 days.
  • Strong technical proficiency with computer applications, including databases, Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to manage, plan, organize, and implement quality, creative children’s programs.
  • As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.
  • Meet the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153, including PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record Check.
  • Must possess an appreciation for and understanding of the mission of The Salvation Army.
