Responsibilities
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in all assigned areas, including hallways, stairwells, offices, and common spaces.
- Clean and disinfect restrooms, ensuring supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet paper) are adequately stocked.
- Wipe down surfaces, including desks, countertops, windows, and mirrors.
- Empty trash and recycling bins, replacing liners as needed.
- Remove and dispose of waste according to facility guidelines.
- Monitor and report any maintenance issues such as leaks, broken equipment, or facility damage.
- Perform basic repair tasks such as replacing light bulbs and minor fixture repairs.
- Ensure cleaning equipment and tools are properly maintained and stored after use.
- Follow proper cleaning protocols to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
- Use appropriate cleaning products, equipment, and protective gear.
- Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations, reporting any hazards to supervisors.
- Assist with deep cleaning tasks, such as carpet cleaning, floor waxing, and window washing.
- Support special event setup and breakdown, including moving furniture or equipment.
- Participate in seasonal cleaning tasks as required (e.g., snow removal from entrances).
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Prior experience in janitorial or custodial work is beneficial but not required.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment, such as floor buffers and vacuums.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning supplies and safety practices.
- Good physical stamina and ability to lift/move objects up to 50 lbs.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with staff, supervisors, and facility occupants.
- Ability to follow instructions and maintain a positive, professional attitude
