SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The primary responsibility of the Coordinator of School Aged Child Care is the planning and implementation of program activities according to the guidelines set by OCFS. The Coordinator will establish policies, procedures for and direct the activities of SACC students and staff.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain paperwork accountability in a timely manner including but not limited to statistics, CACFP reports, personnel paperwork and files, children records.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of OCFS school age regulations
  • Prepare, collect, monitor and submit all data and records for third party payment to ensure fiscal stability of program
  • Prepare documents for submission for reimbursement from Child Adult are Food Program and County subsidy program.
  • Develop, implement, supervise, monitor and evaluate comprehensive program to ensure developmentally appropriate curriculum and programming, curriculum and behavioral support in compliance with Office of Children and Family Services.
  • Daily supervise and direct the Kid’s Café after School and Summer Day Camp programs
  • Supervise the drop-in Children’s Center at the Court House and attend Advisory Board Meetings
  • Recruit and enroll children and families in program to maintain licensed capacity
  • Recruit, hire, orient, supervise, provide ongoing training, and evaluate staff
  • Provide and maintain consistent contact with parents (guardians) to ensure communication between the parent and the program staff
  • Attend and participate in administrative meetings
  • Oversee maintenance for physical site to ensure safety, cleanliness, adequate supplies and equipment in compliance with licensing standards and agency expectations
  • Represent The Salvation Army within the Day Care Community and the Community at large to educate, advocate, and lobby regarding child care issues, policies, and needs

  • Demonstrate cultural competence, as well as integrate understanding into daily responsibilities and participate in meeting the objectives of The Salvation Army, Syracuse Area Services Strategic Plan

Qualifications

SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

 

·         Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in early education or related field, teaching administrative and supervisory experience preferred

·         CDA or Associates with plan leading to Bachelor’s Degree (approved by NYS OCFS)

·         Must meet education/experience requirement per size of center according to NYS/DSS Licensing Regulations

·         Valid Drivers’ license that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirement per size of center according to NYS/DSS Licensing Regulations

·         Access to own vehicle during work day

·         Meet health requirements per licensing
