Seeking Seasonal, Full Time Warming Center Supervisor to join our Watertown Corps

SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Manage operations of the assigned shifts in accordance with mission, philosophy, policies and regulations. Provide services to guests using trauma informed principles. Coordinate, delegate and authorize staff duties to ensure effective operation of program services to guests. Make field decisions - Read, interpret and implement policies - independent of direct supervision. Provide day, evening, or overnight coverage including weekends and holidays at Watertown Corps Warming Center.  Responsible for the supervision of guests and the general management and upkeep of the program. Insure a safe, secure, comfortable, and supportive environment in a manner consistent with the philosophy, policies, and procedures of the program and agency.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Overview:
 

  • The Supervisor, in coordination with the C.O., is responsible for hiring the staff, and preparing the training schedule.
  • The Supervisor must be able to think critically and make decisions independent of direct supervision.
  • The Supervisor will be available for overnight emergencies.
  • The Supervisor is responsible for timely, concise reporting.
  • The Supervisor, in coordination with the C.O. will create the rules for the Warming Center and ensure that staff and guests follow them.
  • The Supervisor will ensure that each guest is treated with dignity and respect.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS.

 

  • High School diploma or GED required and two years of experience working in human services required. Associated degree with one year of experience preferred.
  • Prior experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, and/or working in a team lead role is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements.
  • Knowledge of social service resources in the local community
  • At least one year experience working in office environment; clerical skills including phone etiquette, filing, computer skills required, ability to manage several tasks and projects
