Overview

Oversees the daily operation of the Emergency Shelter

Responsibilities

Attend and represent The Salvation Army at community meetings related to the Emergency Shelter
* Maintain accurate files on all residents, past and present
* Oversee the daily operation of the Emergency Shelter
* Oversee/Perform intake and discharge of Emergency Shelter residents
* Assist residents in goal planning, employment, and housing
* Conduct weekly sessions with residents to review individual goal/plan status
* Complete all monthly statistical reports by the 5th of each month
* Do all required entry/reports for HMIS and Clarity
* Train new shelter staff in policy and procedure
* Handle disciplinary issues with shelter resident. Report to C.O. as needed
* Uphold the mission, objectives, and policies and procedures of The Salvation Army

 

Supervise all Emergency Shelter staff

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Social Work
* And/or Minimum of 5 Years in Shelter management

Strong community relations skills, leadership and organizational skills
* General office skills - MS Office
* Ability to work autonomously and multi-task with attention to detail and abilility to prioritize
* Demonstrate team leadership and mentoring in a team environment
* Strong time management and problem solving skills
* Strong sense of professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality
* Self-motivated and able to respond quickly in emergency situations
* Excellent telephone and verbal communication skills with ability to keep others informed
* Professional documentation of client/staff interactions
* Good communication skills for crisis intervention/de-escalation techniques
* Ability to complete tasks that are assigned quickly and efficiently
* Ability to display positive attitude, be courteous and show respect to clients/staff
* Work well with others, including those with mental illness, lower functioning, and different social, racial and economic backgrounds

*Current Ohio Driver License

* Ability to pass OTIS Test and drive 12 Passengfer van

*Must be insurable by The Salvation Army
