Overview

Position:  STEAM Scholars (S2) Site Coordinator (SSSC)

Location: Youth and Family Education/21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) STEAM Scholars PA STEAM Academy Charter School; Harrisburg, PA

Availability of Position:  October, 2024            

Schedule: Part time, Monday-Thursday, 3:00-6:00 pm plus office hours, 16 hrs/wk

Reporting Relationship: Directly:  STEAM Scholars Site Director Indirectly: Youth and Family Education Administrator

Salary and Grade: $21/hr, 76 Non-Exempt                      

Responsibilities

This position will implement program plans, coordinate, and maintain the 21st CCLC grant-funded program that will serve PA STEAM Academy students and families. The SSSC will provide direct support to the Site Director in all operational aspects of the 21st CCLC program and parent and family engagement programs. The SSSC will track daily attendance, provide follow-up regarding enrolled students and parents regarding program absences and any behaviors that need follow up. The SSSC supervises all student activities. Maintains a safe and nurturing environment for the students, and clean and orderly classrooms. Coordinates and ensures proper implementation of program plans, instructors, tutors, volunteers, and guest speakers. Reviews student records via file, database and Procare for accuracy.  Provide detailed reports to the supervisor detailing program results and human-interest stories. Facilitation of curriculum to assigned groups as well as sub in classrooms when other staff are out.  Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Degree in the field of Education or related field and 3+ years of experience working with urban, diverse youth and their families.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Confidentiality in all areas, mandatory
  • Prior experience in lesson plan writing and development.
  • As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153.
  • Ability to deal with stressful situations
  • Possess analytical skills and strategic mindset
  • Ability to deal with a wide variety of community people, students, and vendors of services
  • Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse HistoryClearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills, patience, creativity and love for urban youth and their families.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment but also able to work independently.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and data entry.
  • Valid Certification within 90 days of employment CPR and First Aid
  • Valid Driver's License and able to obtain insurance clearances as determined by The Salvation Army's insurance company
  • Effective time management and strong organizational skills a must.
  • Knowledge of cultural flexibility, competency in working with multi-cultural participants and experience working with inner-city youth.
  • Program requires working hours to be flexible to meet program needs and is subject to change.
  • Must be a detail-oriented, logical thinker, who is a motivated self-starter and able to work independently on assigned projects.
  • Must be able to adapt and change to meet the needs of the organization and the community.
  • Must have an understanding of and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
