The Salvation Army USA Eastern Territorial Headquarters is seeking a motivated and creative Social Media and Digital Content Curator to join our Community Relations and Development team, which oversees all external marketing and public relations programs in the Territory. This temporary (3 months), part-time position offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in digital and social marketing and content creation within a highly respected organization. The social media and digital content curator will play a crucial role in drafting and reformatting content for social media and other digital channels, helping to enhance our online presence, engage our various stakeholders, and mitigate reputational risk to the organization.

Responsibilities

 

  • Assist in the creation and scheduling of engaging content across various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.) aligned with our brand voice, brand values, and mission.
  • Reformat existing content for optimal presentation on different digital and social channels, including our website, email campaigns, and social media platforms.
  • Collaborate with our marketing and communications team to develop content strategies that increase engagement with all our stakeholders, promote our services and events, and support our fundraising initiatives.
  • Monitor social media platforms for trending news and ideas and recommend creative ways to integrate relevant content into our channels.
  • Monitor social media platforms for unfavorable news and commentary and recommend ways to mitigate such situations.
  • Help maintain a cohesive visual style across digital content, ensuring a consistent brand experience.
  • Analyze the performance of social media posts and digital campaigns and suggest improvements based on insights.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for new content and strategies to enhance digital engagement.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of related experience.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with an ability to adapt style and tone for different audiences and platforms.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with the most influential social media platforms and trends and an understanding of how to engage with different online communities.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing principles and content optimization for the web.
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and basic knowledge of graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
