Seeking a Part Time Driver/Social Services Aid on our Schenectady Corps Team

SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Driver position will ensure that donations are picked up daily from participating farms. The employee will assist grocery stores pickups and the weekly RFB pick up. Alongside with Social Services Manager, this position works on monitoring and distributing food through Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Pick up food donations from the Cornell Cooperative Extension Green House and assigned Farms on a weekly basis or as often as needed.
• Assist in picking up Hannaford’s, BJs, Aldi’s and Freihofer’s and weekly RFB as needed.
• Help maintain food stock areas, dating and rotating food commodities from Food Bank and Vendors.
• Assist during the Food Pantry distribution on Wednesdays-Fridays. In cases when the Social Services Manager is absent, lead the Food Pantry distribution.
• Assist in stocking the Food Pantry to meet the needs and demands of the pantry.
• Assist with recording statistics for social services and submit them to the Social Services Manager.
• Assist in keeping records for in-kind donations and submit them to the Social Services Manager.
• Assist at the Soup Kitchen as needed for Breakfast and Lunch.
• Help drive for Christmas kettle as needs.
• Perform any needed function, as directed, in the event of an emergency situation.
• Follow established department and organization policies, procedures, objectives, quality management, safety, and environmental control.
• Demonstrate understanding of behaviors consistent with The Salvation Army’s mission, vision, goals, and values.
• Attend all staff meetings, workshops and trainings as directed.
• Participate in all other duties and activities as requested or assigned by the Social Services Manager or Corps Officer.

Qualifications

SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• Valid NYS Driver License that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements
