Overview

The purpose of the Social Service Case Worker  is to serve those in need in our community with Salvation Army resources and donations through the delivery of basic needs services and case management.

Responsibilities

    1. Interview clients, maintain client files, updating with each visit and assisting with services such as emergency food, utilities, rents, & mortgages and other basic needs
    2. Maintain confidentiality both with clients and other agencies/service providers
    3. Supervise/coordinate with receptionist the scheduling of client appointments
    4. Maintain statistics on social services
    5. Maintain records and complete reports for United Way, EFSP, and any other special funds
    6. Client Outreach in the community. Locating primary groups that may benefit from programs that are offered.
    7. Pathway of Hope Case Management
    8. Work with Corps Officers on special projects as assigned
    9. Coordinate Angel Tree, Christmas distributions, Back to School Project
    10. Supervise and Oversee the Food Pantry – including preparation & distribution of                 food bags, stocking shelves, and client pantry tracking.
    11. Supervise and Oversee the Diaper Bank giveaway – including ordering from the Diaper Bank, keeping stats and records of diaper giveaway and communicating regularly with the Ohio Diaper Bank.
    12. Order food from Food Bank and perform inventory maintenance regularly as well as overseeing the temperature checks on freezers and Food Pantry.
    13. Make appropriate referrals for clients to various agencies/organizations and coordinate service with said agencies/organizations.
    14. Collaborate with the Corps Officer and other community agency representatives to provide educational opportunities to clients and community members. This could be in the form of classes, (sessions) seminars, or support/focus groups
    15. Any other reasonable request made by the Corps Officer.

 

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION and /or EXPERIENCE

  • College degree preferred.
  • LSW preferred but not required
  • Minimum of five years of social work experience
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to operate independently self-motivated

 SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Knowledge of computers
  • Knowledge of various software including but not limited to Lotus Notes, Microsoft Word, Excel, or ability to learn quickly
