Overview

Position: Youth Program Coordinator

Department: Allentown Citadel Corps Social Services

Availability of Position: Immediate

Schedule: Monday through Friday 10am-6pm

Supervises: Youth Program Aides

Reporting Relationship: Corps Social Services

Salary and Grade:$18.00 per hour; 74, Non-Exempt

 Position Overview:

The Youth Program Coordinator is responsible for directing, supervising, and reporting all Allentown Citadel’s youth program activities such as, after school program, summer day camp, back to school program and Christmas Angel Tree program and any other your activities.

Responsibilities

Description of Position:  

  • Provides direct supervision of Youth Program Aides and volunteers. The Youth Program Coordinator carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with The Salvation Army’s policies and procedures.
    • Help coordinate fundraising and volunteer efforts for annual programs such as Summer Day Camp, Back to School and Christmas Angel Tree Programs
  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to,
    • Training employees: planning, assigning, participating, and directing work.
    • Appraises performance of youth program aides, addresses complaints, and resolves problems.
  • Communicates with Social Services Director financial and non-financial needs of youth program.
  • Communicate and build relationships with community agencies and organizations to informed them of youth program activities throughout the year. Attend and participate of at-risk youth programs and activities in Allentown for information and collaboration purposes.
  • Work with Youth Program Team in order to assure that children attending programs are served in an appropriate manner.
  • Organize activities in the gymnasium and game room.
  • Communicate with parents as needed.
  • Perform first aid tasks as needed
  • The Youth Program Coordinator needs to be aware that in case of another pandemic where children will be out of school but required to do distance education.
  • Perform administrative duties such as statistics, budgeting and reporting to funders.
    • Perform related duties as assigned.

 

The Youth Program Coordinator must,

  • Have good time management skills.
  • Attend all staff meetings and meetings the position requires.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
  • Be able to work independently, work well in groups and be able to demonstrate good judgement and leadership skills.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of related experience.
  • Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Microsoft Office—Word, Power Point; Excel; Outlook
  • Valid PA Driver’s License
  • Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks prior to employment: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 along with renewals every five years.
  • Must have an understanding of, appreciation for, and support the Mission of The Salvation Army.
