SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Family Resource Specialist position exists to assist the Family Resource Coordinator, in administering services to children, adolescents, families and adults in Chautauqua County including counseling, advocacy, and case management.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for reading and being familiar with The Salvation Army Employee Handbook, and will read and follow the policy and procedure manual specific to the Anew Center.
• Responsible for providing services to children and families including supportive interventions in the home and/or office, group counseling, educational sessions, case management, advocacy, accompaniment, crisis intervention, , intakes assessments, transportation, providing information, referrals, follow-up services and emergency crisis evaluations, as requested.
• Assist in the development, coordination, and implementation of curriculum and activities.
• Assist in facilitating children’s support groups or other related groups as assigned.
• Responsible for assisting with implementation of educational workshops and assisting and planning for supportive family interventions.
• Responsible for conducting domestic violence education sessions with clients referred by child protective services and others expressing an interest in the services.
• Responsible for assisting with transportation with the agency vehicle in order for children and families to attend program activities.
• Responsible for assisting in monitoring of supplies, planning and preparation for activities, shopping, and set up and clean up for groups.
• Responsible for assisting with phone calls, home visits, intakes, advocacy and accompaniment, and curriculum development.
• Responsible for being familiar with and completing statistics for the program.
• Attend all relevant staff meetings, trainings, and seminars as directed.
• Provide Domestic Violence/Rape Crisis services in person and via the Hotline and ensure follow-up.
• Responsible for keeping accurate and updated records, and submitting reports, statistics, as required by The Salvation Army and program funders.
• Will be assigned to the Response Team Schedule as directed by the Program Director, which includes being available for shelter coverage, advocacies, debriefing, phone calls, and all other critical situations during assigned coverage dates which includes weekdays, weekends, and Holidays.
• Ensure all clients are made aware of Office of Victim Services Compensation, and complete applications for those eligible.
• Attend inter-agency, coalitions, and community meetings in order to facilitate services to clients.
• Communicate pertinent information relevant to the operations of the program to immediate supervisor.
• Act as a mandated reporter for The Salvation Army and report all incidents of suspected child abuse / neglect to child protection services mandatory reporter hotline.
• Understand that by signing this job description you are aware that, as an agency offering 24-hour service, at times coverage for other shifts may be required.
• Understand that as an employee of The Salvation Army, there may be occasion for the addition of other responsibilities as needed, per the direction of the immediate supervisor, Program Director, or Commanding Officers.

Qualifications

SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
• Must satisfactorily complete the sexual assault training in order to be a certified rape crisis counselor and attend a minimum of 10 additional training hours per year.
• Must have computer/typing skills in order to complete statistics, maintain case files, and correspond via email communication.
• Must have the ability to climb stairs and carry supplies to and from upper levels of the building.
• Valid driver’s license that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements.
• Able to drive a 12-passenger vehicle.
