Availability of Position:   June 10, 2024 for training

Schedule: Seasonal, Full-Time , June 17 – August 9, 2024      

Reporting Relationship: Directly: Youth and Family Education Administrator Indirectly: Youth and Family

Salary/Grade: $18.00 per hour; 75, NE

Responsibilities

Description of Position:    

The Facilitator will lead and facilitate a specific art genre (seeking Art, Music, Coding, Career Exploration, Bridging the Gap, Character Education, Bible) instruction which actively engages the program participants in exploring new outlets for self-expression and skill development. The facilitator will develop detailed lesson plans creating an enrichment curriculum with a finished product to be displayed or performed at the program Showcase Event.  Some content areas have curriculum and lesson plans will need to be reviewed and implemented. Art and Music will require lesson plans to be fully created. The facilitator will provide participants with a safe and enjoyable environment in which to learn arts and have fun.  Modeling honest, positive behaviors and practices is necessary. Data must be collected on program impact. The facilitator must able to instruct youth of grades K-8 and plan age appropriate lessons for each age group. This position is seasonal, part-time employment.

Qualifications

Requirements:    

Minimum requirement of 90 credits of higher education plus 2-3 years previous experience in teaching youth. Should be self-motivated; exhibit strong initiative and time management skills as well as good organizational and interpersonal skills.  The position requires the ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment but also the ability to work independently. Knowledge of cultural flexibility, competency in working with multi-cultural participants and experience working with inner-city and un-churched youth is required.  Must be a detail-oriented, logical thinker, who is a motivated self-starter and able to work independently on assigned projects.  Must be able to adapt and change to meet the needs of the organization and the community. Must possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
  • Valid National Sex Offender Registry Clearance
  • TB Test
  • Health Physical to meet DHS compliance for licensed School Age Centers
  • Upon hire, complete 10 hours Health and Safety Training
  • CPR, First Aid and AED Certified
  • As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter
  • Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
