Overview

Position: Anti-Trafficking Peer Coordinator

Department: Philadelphia Social Service Ministries; New Day to Stop Trafficking Mobile Case Management

Work Location: Philadelphia                                 

Availability of Position: Immediate

Schedule: Full-time (40 hours a week), Monday- Friday 9 am- 5 pm  

Reporting Relationship: Mobile Case Management Program Manager   

Salary and Grade: $23.00 per hour; 76, Non-Exempt

Position Overview: The Anti-Trafficking Peer Coordinator will provide intensive peer support to confirmed and suspected survivors of human trafficking identified within the Philadelphia Department of Human Services and Police Assisted Diversion Program. The Anti-Trafficking Peer Coordinator will provide culturally competent services through their lived Sex Trafficking and/or Labor Trafficking expertise to areas concerning substance abuse treatment, trafficking, and/or commercial sexual exploitation. The Anti-Trafficking Peer Coordinator will develop and facilitate groups with youth survivors of trafficking in Philadelphia.  The Anti-Trafficking Peer Coordinator will provide mentorship to youth survivors of trafficking identified through Philadelphia’s WRAP court.  The Anti-Trafficking Peer Coordinator will facilitate New Day’s Survivor Advisory Council and help to develop peer/survivor leadership program.

Responsibilities

Duties:

  • Assess the goals, strengths, and needs of survivors assigned to them. This includes a thorough biopsychosocial, need assessment, and history of commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking. 
  • Collaborate with multiple partnerships of WRAP court and Police Assisted Diversion Program to provide comprehensive survivor centered services and mentorship.
  • Develop and Facilitate survivor support groups monthly.
  • Supervise the Anti-Trafficking Peer Mentor, providing weekly trauma informed supervision.
  • Facilitate monthly Survivor Advisory Board meetings in order to provide oversight and feedback to all of The New Day To Stop Trafficking Program services.
  • Provide services in compliance with the ethical principles of the Pennsylvania Certification Board. While maintaining a full-time caseload of 6-12 clients, the Anti-Trafficking Peer Coordinator will provide trauma informed support, education, and lived expertise as a resource for the survivor's goals from multiple New Day locations, with a particular focus on the Police Assisted Diversion program and WRAP Court.
  • Make referrals for clients to outside agencies including housing, drug and alcohol recovery services, medical services, mental health services, financial assistance, and educational/job training services. Additionally, support client navigating and equitably accessing sustainable, long-term supports through existing resources (i.e. medical insurance, SSI, SNAP).
  • Timely and accurate documentation of progress, problems, and services in the client record and database. Keep up to date case notes, ensure client confidentiality, and conduct ongoing data collection and entry into Service Point for all cases. 
  • Utilize strengths-based, trauma-informed approach to client interaction based on the Sanctuary Model.
  • The Anti-Trafficking Peer Specialist Coordinator may be assigned other duties from time to support clients.

Qualifications

Requirements: Certified Peer Specialist OR Certified Recovery Specialist certification required; High School Diploma or GED required One - Two years experience in related field work. Two years removed from lived  HT experience. Personally lived Human Trafficking Experience Required.  Must have an understanding of the issue of Domestic and Foreign Human Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation.  Experience with trauma informed care preferably a working knowledge of Sanctuary Model for Trauma informed services.  Bilingual, Spanish/English, preferred.  Driver’s License preferred.  Must be computer literate and skilled in Word and Excel. Must be able to negotiate the Internet.  Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.  As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.  Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.  Must possess an appreciation for and understanding of the mission of The Salvation Army.
