Seeking a Seasonal Recreation Specialist on our Canandaigua Phoenix Program Team

SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Oversee and supervise a group of children in the Summer Day Camp Recreation Program while maintaining health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

• Lead structured and unstructured activities for children participating in the Summer Day Camp Program
• Supervise a group of 8-12 children during the day to coordinate recreation activities that encourage teamwork and character building opportunities
• Maintain health and safety of children according to camp manual at all times
• Report any problems and concerns to the Program Director as needed
• Report and discipline concerns to the Program Director as needed
• Attend all staff meetings and training sessions as scheduled
• Encourage each child to participate in constructive recreation and leisure activities
• Assist children to develop an awareness of the Canandaigua community and leisure options in the community
• Other duties as assigned by the Program Director

Qualifications

SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
• High School Diploma/GED
• Desire and ability to work with children
• Ability to assist or lead with the teaching of activities
• Energetic, sense of humor, patient and self-control
• Safety oriented at all times
• Creative and artistic
