Overview

The Salvation Army’s Quincy Corps is hiring a Corps Ministry Assistant and offers excellent benefit package to eligible employees including:

Location: 6 Baxter Street, Quincy, MA

Pay Range:  $15-$17 depending upon experience (housing is offered)

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Graduate or equivalent, college degree preferred
  • Practical training in education
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with youth education in a structured program
  • Progressive leadership experience
  • Classroom teaching experience is preferred
  • Must have supervisory experience
  • Must attend the Corps on Sundays
  • Soldier (member of The Salvation Army Church) or willing to become a Soldier, preferred
  • Ability to interact well with people of all ages and backgrounds
  • Good organizational and leadership skills
  • Good computer skills and competency with Microsoft software applications
  • Must have valid driver’s license and ability to drive a 12-passanger van
  • Must be flexible with work schedule
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently
  • Must have a philosophy of education and child development, that is consistent with The Salvation Army

 

The Corps Ministry Assistant is responsible for building the bridge between outreach programs and the Corps.  

  1. Sunday Children’s Ministry
    1. Plan and execute Children’s Sunday School Class for Grades K-5
    2. Manage resources for Sunday School Teachers
    3. Plan and execute Children’s Church for Grades K-5
    4. Facilitate use of Parent Cue and at home materials for families
    5. Encourage attendance growth of youth and families for Sunday mornings.

 

  1. Wednesday Ministry
  1. Provide transportation for program participants as needed.
  2. Assist in the planning and execution of Kid’s Programs on Wednesdays.
  3. Plan and execute Corps Cadets
  4. Assist in music programs as able
  5. Oversee parent pickup and child check out

 

  1. Friday Ministry
  1. Plan and execute Teen Programming on Fridays
  2. Provide transportation for program participants as needed.
  3. Transport Teens to Divisional Fellowship when scheduled.

 

  1. Divisional Youth Events
  1. Organize registration for youth and families.
  2. Provide transportation for program participants as needed.
  3. Assist in Divisional events as needed.

 

  1. Small Groups
  1. Host a small group.
  2. Facilitate small group formation and assist with introducing people to small groups.
  1. Summer Responsibilities
  1. Assist with Summer Youth Programming to be determined later.
  2. Provide transportation to and from camp for registered campers.
  3. Assist with Summer Outreach Programming
  4. Assist with the social services of the corps as needed. 

 

  1. Other Ministry Opportunities
  1. Assist with other ministry activities as assigned.
  2. Assist with Christmas ministry between Angel Tree and Kettles.

 

  1. Anticipated Schedule
  1. Sunday 9AM-1PM
  2. Wednesday 12PM – 8PM
  3. Friday 1PM – 9PM
  4. When divisional events are scheduled on Saturdays, the time from the beginning of pickups to the end of drop offs are considered work hours. Otherwise, time would be split appropriately between Monday, Tuesday and Thursday
