STATUS:                     Exempt           

 

SCHEDULE:               Full-time, normally 8:30 – 4:00, Monday – Friday, and as needed

 

FUNCTION:                This position is responsible for budget preparation, general forecasting, maintenance of the accounting system, preparation and analysis of monthly finance reports, the general oversight of area finances and to ensure compliance with policy, contracts, and grants. Position requires responsibility to maintain the financial integrity of The Salvation Army Cincinnati Area Services.

Responsibilities

DUTIES:

  • Prepare monthly billings for Government grants – Anti-Human Trafficking, Rapid Rehousing, Emergency Services, and Hamilton County Mental Health
  • Assist various departments with grant preparation by providing financial information
  • Prepare annual budgets with the assistance of department supervisors. Add budgets for the six Corps under the direction of Cincinnati City Activities
  • Responsible for balance sheet for City Activities, Westside Learning Center, and Consolidated Corps activities – analysis and adjustments as needed
  • Prepare reports for fiscal year closing, including reconciliation of accounts and detailed support analysis
  • Prepare audit package for internal and external auditors, including monitor visits by Strategies to End Homelessness
  • Prepare monthly journal entries – recurring entries, bank statement adjustments, lockbox income, AR entries, credit card income
  • Enter payroll manual check into AP system from the payroll worksheet and enter payroll information into Serenic
  • Analyze, assess, and prepare monthly bank reconciliations with backup as required
  • Enter receipts into Serenic system with appropriate backup attached with proper G/L code assigned
  • Prepare monthly financial statements for DHQ Staff / Cincinnati Advisory Board, which include variance report with commentary, a summary narrative of the City Activities, and any other requested information. Attends Cincinnati Advisory Board Finance Committee meetings and collaborates closely with the chairperson on agenda items.
  • Analyze, assess, and prepare monthly projections for year-end, beginning in April
  • Prepare a monthly review of Westside Learning Center activity for the Corps Officer and Learning Center Director
  • Prepare reports for DHQ consolidation
  • Provide reports for each department with analysis
  • Monitor cash flow
  • Prepare and process Corps allocation checks, including Social Worker allocations and United Way
  • Other duties as directed to maintain the smooth operation of the Department

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting / Business Administration
  • Prefer a minimum of 3 years’ experience of  grants and contracts in non-profit environment
  • Experience on accounting software a must, Serenic system experience a plus.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with solid Excel experience and capabilities
  • Experience in budget preparation and finance data analysis
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized
  • Must have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Must maintain a high level of confidentiality
