Position Details:  Full-time, Non-Exempt, Hourly with access to full Benefit Program upon successful completion of our "Initial Employment" period.

Wages:  $19.09-$20.00/hour with matching credentials

Hours:  37.5 work week, Monday-Friday

 

Doing the most good:  Our Program Office Coordinator is responsible for greeting our clients as they enter our Food Pantry and Emergency Practical Assistance Services Program area, they will assist with assessing the clients need(s) and provide them with direct assistance, information referrals and advocacy.   This position is fast pace, customer service focused and multi-tasking for a person who is passionate about helping others here in our Syracuse Community.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

  • Provide direct assistance with food, formula, diapers etc.  Responsible for ensuring that all guidelines are followed with the storage and distribution of all items. 
  • Ensure shelves and refrigerator/freezer are stocked at the end of each day. 
  • Pick up food and baked goods as needed from our Client donors.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the Food Pantry and the E/PAS waiting area. 
  • Partner with Facilities to ensure walkway remains cleared and salted during winter months.
  • Ensure that client service information and financial paperwork is accurately completed and recorded in a timely manner.  Maintain all paperwork in an organized manner. 
  • Assist E/PAS programs by screening and making referrals, setting up appointments or referring to community resources that can meet their needs. 
  • Provide reception services to include answering of phones for all E/PAS programs.

Food Pantry Volunteers:

  • Train, schedule and supervise clerical and food pantry volunteers to ensure proper conduct.
  • Make sure that work assignments are appropriately completed. 
  • Submit bi-weekly/monthly time-sheets to SCSD, CNY Works, Jobs Plus and TSA volunteer coordinator. 
  • Conduct bi-weekly supervision

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • A min. of one year of related work experience
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task
  • Knowledge of community resources is a plus
  • MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook and data entry skills
  • Valid driver’s license that meets The Salvation Army’s insurance requirements
  • Position requires background and drug screens.
