Overview

REPORTS TO:          Operations Coordinator/Corps Officers

SUPERVISES:           Volunteers                               

STATUS:                     Non-Exempt                

SCHEDULE:              Varies as needed as programs deem needed to fill the full-time position.

FUNCTION:               The custodian/driver position will work flexible hours as directed by the Corps Officers and programming needs.  The custodian/driver will be responsible for the cleaning and sanitizing of the church building and  vehicles as well as completing minor repairs and maintenance as able. The custodian/driver will also have duties related  to transportation to and from special events as well as picking up and taking home from church programming.

Responsibilities

                       

  • Clean and Sanitize all surfaces daily as needed.
  • Deep clean and sanitize all surfaces weekly.
  • Empty and dispose of all trash as needed.
  • Tidy up restrooms daily.
  • Sweep all floors daily.
  • Mop all floors weekly/daily if needed.
  • Maintain outside of property picking up trash, etc.
  • Minor repair jobs as needed.
  • Maintaining/cleaning church vehicles monthly.
  • Snow removal of sidewalks.
  • Driving youth and adults to/from Camp Swoneky.
  • Driving/riding with clients to a shelter.
  • Picking up donations when needed.
  • Helping with driving during the busy seasons (such as daycamp and Christmas).
  • Ongoing upkeep and repairs as able to facility and equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Corps Officers

OTHER DUTIES: 

           

  • Must operate tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Must have basic janitorial skills (cleaning, painting, small building repairs)
  • Must be well organized and efficient with the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Must possess a level of professionalism and competence with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff, volunteers and community/clients.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality regarding clientele.
  • Must maintain a happy and professional work environment.
  • Must be able to drive a 12 passenger van.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • One-two years of related experience in janitorial/maintenance work.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing. Must be able obtain and maintain driving privileges per The Salvation Army policy.
