Salary/Grade: $28.50/hr; 77 Non-Exempt
Position Overview:
The REA Teachers are responsible for creating a quality nurturing and educational program environment by demonstrating proficiency in the assigned curriculum and effectively creating and implementing lesson plans. REA Teachers will support the tutors, lead academic instruction, review students’ work products and provide instruction and intensive interventions where needed. REA Teachers will also provide instruction to the Lead Facilitators, Tutors and volunteers during the academic portion of the REA program to ensure program participants are receiving appropriate and strategic academic supports. REA Teachers will provide clear direction, support the tutors and observe academic instruction provided by the facilitators, tutors and volunteers. The REA program will serve Steelton-Highspire Elementary School children. The REA Teacher will use the Sonday system, Heggerty Phonemic Awareness, Journeys, Wit and Wisdom, Saxon, EnVision and Xtra Math curriculums during their instruction periods. The REA Teacher is responsible for maintaining student records, student notes/observations, updating daily tutor sheets, and providing progress reports. The REA Teacher will administer pre-assessment and on-going assessment tools and any other milestone testing deemed necessary. Meet with students, teachers and parents to develop specific achievement goals and the individual learning plan for each student if needed. Provide timely feedback to Youth and Family Education Administrator. Provide positive reinforcement to students. REA staff can support the Teachers in these efforts. Teachers must attend all trainings and be willing to learn to assist with other assigned curriculums and implement lessons. This position is part-time employment with various hours to meet program needs for both summer and school year after school programs.
