Overview

Position: Assistant Divisional Creative Arts Director and Special Events Coordinator      

Department: DHQ – Music and Creative Arts

Availability of Position: ASAP

Schedule: FT, 40+, some evening and weekends required

Reporting Relationship: Divisional Music and Creative Arts Director

Salary Grade: $59,000 per year; Grade 11, Exempt

Description of Position:  

The Assistant Divisional Creative Arts Director and Special Events Coordinator (ADCADSEC) cultivates, nourishes, and encourages the artistic abilities of the Officers and Soldiers in the Pendel division for worship, for evangelism, and for the glory of God. These artistic abilities include not only the performance creative arts, such as Acting, Dance, Step, Visual Arts, etc., but also the technical creative arts including sound, lighting, set construction, worship/event planning, and stage management as worship. The ADCADSEC will also work, in coordination with the Divisional Program Secretary, and Divisional Music and Creative Arts Director to plan and execute high quality special events, including, but not limited to, script writing, leading production meetings, video production, audio visual coordination, and other forms of effective communication required to streamline public events.

Responsibilities

DUTIES

                               

Creative Arts

  • Act as a resource and advisor to corps creative arts programs.
  • Identify, develop, and mentor/coach potential leaders in all areas of creative arts.
  • Create, develop, and implement a comprehensive arts curriculum for use at the corps and divisional level.
  • Provide leadership training opportunities for corps creative arts leaders.
  • Attend, plan, promote, and implement, in cooperation with the Youth Department, any creative arts for the Ladore Conservatory and Musicamp weeks.
  • Plan, promote, and implement, in conjunction with the Divisional Music and Creative Arts Director, Divisional and Territorial Arts events, including, but not limited to, regional leadership training, Star Search, Territorial Convocations, and TAM Conservatory. Attend and support said events, as requested.
  • Oversee and coordinate all divisional creative arts ensembles, which includes, but is not limited to, Pendel Arts (Drama, Step, and Dance) and the Pendel Youth Arts Ensemble (Drama, Step, and Dance).
  • Maintain timely, attractive, and efficient communication of creative arts events and information to the division, corps, members of ensembles, a general mailing list through email, and the social media page.
  • Provide creative arts coordination for the major divisional events, including, but not limited to, Family Camp, Youth Councils, etc.
  • Participate on Divisional Music and Creative Arts, and Youth commissions and any other committees, as requested.
  • Perform related duties, as assigned.

 Special Events

  • Assist with the planning, production, and execution of Divisional events, including, but not limited to, Family Camp, Youth Councils, Men's Camp, Women's Camp etc., as assigned. This duty would include attending Commission meetings, as invited, for planning purposes. 
  • Create tech sheets and provide stage management for all Divisional Events, as assigned, including, but not limited to, Family Camp, Youth Councils, Women’s Camp, Men’s Camp, and others according to the Divisional Calendar.
  • Organize and lead production meetings for special events.
  • Coordinate all audio-visual requirements for Divisional Events, as assigned.
  • Assist Program Secretary with scripts and production of the Annual Command Review.
  • Responsible for all Divisional Video Production requests, as assigned.
  • Create appropriate scripts for assigned events.
  • Provide suggestions and best practices for event production.
  • Provide support to the Youth Department, as needed, for planning of events, as well as participation during summer months at Ladore, as requested.
  • Perform related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Event Planning, Theatre Arts, or similar educational field required; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Must be an active, uniformed Salvationist and remain active in a corps setting throughout employment.
  • Strong Christian testimony of faith and holiness, as this is a ministry position.
  • Proven experience in special event management.
  • Strong organization, communication, leadership, and team working skills.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Must have vehicle with valid driver’s license.
  • Excellent computer and video production software skills.
  • Willingness to work with adults and children.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office, Outlook, and TEAMS is required.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work in a constantly changing environment.
  • Must be able to adhere to project and work deadlines.
  • As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.
  • Meet the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153, including the PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record Check.
  • Must possess an understanding of and support the mission of The Salvation Army.
